Calcite
Calcite (CaCO3) is a mineral from the carbonate group.It is a very common mineral which is found worldwide,it occurs in Igneous,Sedimentary,Metamorphic Rocks.
Calcite has the following properties:
1.Hardness:3 On the Moh Scale.
2.Color:White or colorless but can have a wide range of colors
(Violet,yellow,blue,green,red,grey,brown,black,orange etc.) Due to impurities.
3.Specific gravity:2.71.
4.Cleavage:Perfect {1011} on all three directions,Rhom bohedral.
5.Habit:Many crystal habits some of which are (Massive,concretionary,granular,rhombohedral,crystalline,talactitic)
6.Fracture:Conchoidal.
7.Luster:Vitreous (Glassy) or Pearly.
8.Streak:White.
